Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT)

February 2017

About your team

Safer Neighbourhood Teams work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and solve issues that matter to the community where you live.

Making neighbourhoods safer by cutting day to day crime and anti-social behaviour is at the heart of keeping people in West Mercia safe. Thanks to an investment in mobile tablet style computers, these will enable officers to spend more time on patrol on the street and in neighbourhoods.

Officers will continue to come to people when they need them and provide a high quality service however you contact us - in person (on the street, at community bases and at partners and communities together [PACT] meetings), on the phone or online.

Rural Watch Newsletter

Good Afternoon folks,

Recently we have seen a slight increase in the number of incidents reported to us in regards to horses and vehicles using the roads. There have been complaints of horse riders riding two abreast, not pulling into the verges when they can and by the same token, complaints about drivers speeding past horses/riders, not giving the horse enough space etc. Country lanes are notoriously tricky to ride/drive on especially when the verges are mud laden, so please take extra care when out and about on the roads.

0212-S-290117. A vehicle parked off Winslow Road in Bromyard has been broken into and a large assortment of tools and equipment has been stolen. The white Ford van itself was not damaged during the incident and it is believed that there has been a locking fault with this particular make/model, enabling easy access to thieves. If you can, remove expensive items from your vehicles overnight and get all items property marked with products such as Smartwater or Cremark.

Suspicious Incident

A property owner in the area of Sawbury Hill (just off the A44), Bromyard has reported several suspicious incidents, some of which may be connected to people on the land poaching. Lights have been seen in nearby fields and items damaged with the farm. Please be extra vigilant in this area and report any suspicious vehicles/people to us on 101 as and when it happens.

Good news

A vehicle was stopped in Bromyard at around 0400hrs in the morning, the driver was found to be in possession of cannabis for which he was arrested.

Pc John Meek arrested a male involved in the cultivation of cannabis which was found at an address on the outskirts of Bromyard. Hundreds of fully grown cannabis plants were seized. A great result to get this cannabis off our streets.

If you have any concerns in regards to cannabis or a cannabis grow, you can call us on 101 and we will investigate, or you can call Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, who are completely independent from the police

Right that’s it for now folks, remember don’t make it easy for thieves, keep it locked.

Kind regards,

Steph
