Organization:Founded in 1969 as a poverty law firm committed to law reform,ABLE is a nonprofit law firm seeking a progressive attorney to lead a staff of64 providing high quality legal assistance in civil matters to low-income individuals and groups throughout 32 counties in western Ohio. It also represents agricultural workers throughout the state. ABLE has a rich legacy of varied, dynamic and transformational advocacy. It is committed to racial justice through a community lawyering approach with offices in Dayton, Defiance and Toledo. ABLE enjoys a close collaborative relationship with Legal Aid of Western Ohio (LAWO), but does not receive LSC funding.

Law practice groups include Meaningful Access to Education, Housing & Community Economic Development, Healthcare & Public Benefits, and Agricultural Worker & Immigrant Rights.Advocacy projects include Medical-Legal Partnership for Children, Veterans Advocacy Project, and the Regional Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. Administrative teams include Human Resources, Development & Communications, Financial Management, and Information Technology.

ABLE offers a competitive compensation package, commensurate with experience, and an excellent work environment. Its current operating budget is $5MM.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience with a personal and professional commitment to racial equity, diversity, and poverty law.

Essential - law degree; collaborative style; strategic thinker; team builder; transparent communicator; comfortable working with diverse and changing communities; diplomacy; leadership, managerial, supervisory experience and ability to inspire.

Preferred - advocacy and litigation experience; exemplary listening skills; relationship builder comfortable raising funds; and decisive.

A Plus–a humanitarian with an open ear and mind.
