Brief discussion about basketball being allowed to have limited concessions.

Special Project:

Sue reported on the progress with the weight room enhancement project. Clean it up, add spirit. Spoke with coaches, teachers, Hannah…the issue is space. Would like to improve equipment, although the current is functional. Propose taking out the cabinet, painting, add mirrors, add a Beaver logo, 3 ellipticals (adding 2 refurbished), 3 bikes (refurbishing and adding used equipment available), and try and add fans. Still researching the fans.A new desk has to be a “recommended desk” from the district, so that is not settled. Would like to have a fund/service contract for upkeep of equipment. Hoping to replace machine pads, and add small miscellaneous equipment (balls, jump ropes, etc).

Estimate for work at this point, $10,390. Direct appeal earmarked $965. Some may come from ASB, per Carrie (bike and elliptical - $4,000) Booster club could perhaps pay the difference.

Melissa made a motion that ABC would offer up $6,000-$6,500 for the weight room enhancements. Paul seconded the motion.

Athletic Director Report:

Carrie reported that a new wrestling coach has been hired. – George Foster, from West Seattle.Still looking for a softball coach.Concern for increasing attendance at sporting events. Possible spirit prizes for students who attend 10 or more games. ASB red and black pack may get involved.

Plans to honor the 1961 basketball team.

Parent attendance at sporting meetings has been lighter. Video taping of critical meeting points is an option to spread the word to those that cannot attend.

Membership: Betty reported ABC Membership forms from girls swim team had not yet been totaled. Currently at 110 members. Better than last year.
