AACN Three Rivers Chapter Scholarships
Advanced Education in Nursing
Throughout its history, AACN has supported the advancement of critical care nursing practice by providing high quality continuing education through programming, local chapter involvement, the CCRN certification program, and opportunities of professional development. The Three Rivers Chapter (TRC), AACN is also committed to advancing the art and science of critical care nursing as well as promoting professionalism among its membership. In support of these ideals, TRC has established educational scholarships that are funded annually.
The Advanced Education in Nursing Scholarship is intended to assist a critical care nurse who is seeking a BSN, MSN, or PhD in nursing with a financial award. Those seeking a BSN are eligible for a $1000.00 scholarship award, MSN students a $1000.00 scholarship award, and PhD students a $750.00 scholarship award. Members are eligible to receive only one Advanced Education in Nursing Scholarship.
Eligibility
1. Current AACN and TRC memberships for a minimum of 1 year prior to application for scholarship.
2. Active RN licensure - copy of nursing license.
3. Current enrollment in an accredited degree program in nursing – document(s) supporting active enrollment in program.
4. Currently working, minimum of 1-year experience within the past 3 years in either a critical care or progressive care setting. Document(s) supporting this requirement may be an email or letter from supervisor.
5. Submit an essay with a 250-word maximum: How has membership in the AACN and especially membership at the local level (Three Rivers Chapter) enriched my professional life?

NTI Scholarships
Two scholarships are available to members who meet all of the following criteria:
1.National AACN and TRC Chapter Members
2. Elected Board of Directors, Appointed Committee Chair, or active committee member.
3.Attendance at 50% of Chapter functions (May 2015-March 2016)
4.Bring 2 non-members to a chapter function.
5.Submit an essay 250 word maximum:
“How will attendance at NTI benefit me and my nurse colleagues?”

Selection Process:
- Deadline for nominations/applications is April 10, 2016

- Award will be announced at the Spring Meeting.
- Scholarship applications will be a blind review by the TRC AACN Merit & Awards Committee.
- Applications will be reviewed according to the eligibility as verified by the TRC AACN.
- Recipients will be selected based on responses to the specified essay question.
- Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by mail.
- In addition, the name of the scholarship recipient will be published in the chapter newsletter.
- Upon selection by the TRC, AACN Merit and Awards Committee, a check will be awarded to the scholarship recipient at the final meeting for the fiscal year.
