Numanthia 2011, Toro, Spain £90

A 100% Tempranillo from Spain's Toro region and is named after the city which attempted to resist Roman rule. Deep dark bright red with light ruby tones. Both intense and complex, there are several layers of aromatics in this lively nose: first some extremely intense notes of red and black fruits (black cherries, raspberries, redcurrants and cassis), perfectly integrated with sweet spices (cinnamon, nutmeg and black pepper) vanilla and toasted characters. Impressive fruit expression, concentrated and velvety tannins, leading to a velvety and lively full body mouth feel. Long and elegant on the finish with an extremely wide range of aromas, like dark fruits, cocoa, toasted and spicy notes, highlights the complexity and handcraft character of this wine.

Marques De Murrieta Reserve, 2012, Rioja £40

Bright cherry red colour. Ample bouquet full of subtle elegant oak and ripe red fruits: red cherry jam, coffee and spices. An intense, well balanced palate, with a rich expression of ripe fruit, with sweet toasty notes, (coffee and chocolate), and a subtle finish that is long with good tannin and finesse.

Edulis Crianza, 2014 Rioja £24

Strong aromas of sweet red fruits very well assembled with the toasty touch of the barrels. It has powerful aromas of raspberry, strawberry, sweet black fruits, and especially toasty notes. Its entry is fresh and it maintains that freshness on the palate along its tasting. It is round, with a very long aftertaste and clear memory of black fruits such as blackberries and blackcurrant that remind in the aftertaste.

This is a real take on the Cabernet Merlot blend, made in its own micro climate, surrounded woods and bee hives. It is grown on a very porous, deep gravel bed. This produces a royal glass of smoky blackberry and deep dark fruits. Peppery, yet still juicy on the palate.
