“A Silent World” reflective memo

My goals for project two consisted of attention to audience, detail, time management and honestly expressing myself. My goals stayed consistent throughout this project factoring into every paragraph I wrote. I feel confident that I met all of my goals. I finished my paper in a timely manner, I think I did of good job of describing my situation to the audience and I used colorful details.

I see the most change between drafts two and three. While there were many grammatical and strategic changes made from draft one to draft two, I worked on draft three the most. Between drafts two and three I added paragraphs and multiple sentences detailing my experience with my mom. I added a couple new examples about experience I had due to my moms deafness and a few experiences I had on my own, like the girl in the mall. I focused on adding detail to the areas that Mrs. Maddox highlighted. Specifically on the after, I wrote more about how my experiences changed me now and how I have been affected.

Peer review played a large role in my project. My paper is so personal to me that I commonly skip over details that I have become accustomed too. My parents were able to pick out areas where they no longer understood what I was talking about and I was able to add in key phrases or descriptions. This is where audience is important to me because they are the ones reading my paper and not audiologist’s.

Not only am I proud of the fact that I finished my first ten page paper, I am extremely proud of myself for writing such a personal paper. I have never written a paper so close to me nor described scenes in my life with such personal detail to others. I haven't even told my best friend about some of the frustrations I spoke of in my project. It is just the way I am. This is way out of my comfort zone but after submitting my paper, it feels good.
