Leader:We come in this service to God,

All:In our need, and bringing with us the needs of the world.

Leader:We come to God, who has come to us in Jesus,

All:And who walks with us the road of our world’s suffering.

Leader:We come to God, who has sent to us the Holy Spirit,

All:bringing into the world God’s power to renew and restore.

Leader:We come with our faith and with our doubts;

All:We come with our hopes and with our fears.

Leader:We come as we are, because it is God who invites us to come,

All:And God has promised never to turn us away.

CONFESSION OF SIN

Leader:God forgives and heals us.

All:We need your healing, merciful God:

Give us true repentance.

Some sins are plain to us;

Some escape us, some we cannot face.

Forgive us; set us free to hear your word to us;

Set us free to serve you.

Leader:God forgives us.

forgive others,

forgive yourself. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER (contemporary version)

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name,

your kingdom come, your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those

who sin against us,

save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours,

now and forever. Amen.

PRAYER OF INVITATION

Leader:Like the first disciples whom Jesus instructed

to wait for the gift of the Holy Spirit,

we wait quietly, in faith, as we pray:

All:Be with us, Holy Spirit;

nothing can separate us from your love.

Be with us as of old,

fill us with you healing power,

direct all our thoughts to your goodness.

Be present, Holy spirit;

bring faith and peace, wellness and wholeness.

Thank you, Holy Spirit,

for your loving presence in our lives.

SOAKING PRAYER FOR HEALING

  • those attending the service are asked to remain in their pews
  • prayer ministers will come and stand behind you to pray quietly
  • please let the prayer minister know if you do not want the laying on of hands
  • individuals are asked to have their prayer request cards filled out
  • please have the cards where the prayer ministers can read them
  • the service lasts around 45 minutes
  • individuals are free to leave earlier if needed
