A RESOLUTION honoring the George Rogers Clark High School state champion cheerleading team.
WHEREAS, this honorable body is pleased to honor successful athletic teams who bring honor to this Commonwealth and serve as exceptional ambassadors to the state; and
WHEREAS, the George Rogers Clark cheerleading team has achieved this extraordinary level of success; and
WHEREAS, on December 14, 2013, at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park, the George Rogers Clark cheerleading team won the All-Girls Super Large division at the State Competitive Cheerleading Championships with an impressive score of 274.3; and
WHEREAS, the members of the George Rogers Clark cheerleading team are seniors Julia Barboza, Katelyn Barrett, Jordan Conn, Taylor Humphrey, Amanda Lewis, Hannah Moore, and Chris Sbert; juniors Savannah Congleton, Jamaia Daugherty, Brianna Epperson, Hayden Grissam, Hayley Hummel, Allyson Ledford, Kaitlyn Marsh, Lindsey Ritchie, Emily Rogers, and Jennifer Stephens; sophomores Brittany Craycraft, McKenzie Davis, Abby Easterling, Macy Ridener, Shelby Stocker, Hillary Thomas, and Laken True; freshmen Emily Bloomfield, Erin Daniel, Laura Graves, Haley Hounshell, Gracie Humphrey, Paityn Palmer, Mina Rodgers, and Kennedy Williams; head coach Kim Ritchie; and assistant coaches Amy Madsen and Treva Parks; and
WHEREAS, the George Rogers Clark cheerleading team has achieved enormous success not only in competition, but also in the classroom and in their community of Winchester. Individual members of the team have participated in the Governor's Scholars Program, have been Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership recipients, have participated in EKU Now, have taken dual credit classes at GRC, have taken multiple Advanced Placement courses, have hosted Walk with Friends and donated to the Pioneer Festival, have participated in Shop with a Cop and Salvation Army fund drives, have helped local businesses with company events, and have been active with youth programs at their churches; and
WHEREAS, the talent, perseverance, and sportsmanship shown by the 2013 George Rogers Clark cheerleading team bodes well for future success. This honorable body commends all of the members of this team for serving as exceptional examples for the youth of this Commonwealth, and thanks Coach Kim Ritchie and her staff for their diligence and hard work in molding these young student-athletes into state champions;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The members of the Senate, both individually and collectively, honor the George Rogers Clark High School state champion cheerleading team, and wishes them the best of luck in all their future endeavors.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the George Rogers Clark High School cheerleading team.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit thirty-two copies of this Resolution to Senator R.J. Palmer II for delivery.
