A RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Wayne Cole upon the occasion of his retirement.

WHEREAS, Dr. Wayne Cole, a pillar of the Providence community, began his private medical practice in 1966. At the formation of his practice, he worked with two women in the back of a house, a modest start to what would become a storied career in the field of medicine. During this time, he also delivered babies at Cardwell Hospital in Providence; and

WHEREAS, from 1984 to 1999, Dr. Cole was a flight surgeon in the United States Air National Guard. The former Mayor of Providence, he also served on the Green River District Health Department for nearly 30 years, and for four years he was a member of the Providence City Council; and

WHEREAS, it was through his family practice that Dr. Cole became a pillar in his community and an inspiration to the people of Webster County. As the namesake of Cole Clinic, now Methodist Family Medicine Providence, he touched the lives of so many people in his hometown and became known as a compassionate doctor who would treat any patient who was in need, no matter the hour; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cole has passed down his love of medicine and his generosity to others to his family. His daughter, Dr. Kelly Cole, works at Methodist Family Medicine Providence; his youngest daughter, Kimberly Reusch, is a speech pathologist; his granddaughter, Chrissy Branson, recently became a nurse practitioner; his granddaughter, Candie Outlaw, is an RN; and his granddaughter, Carlie Cole, is a registered radiology technician; and

WHEREAS, on October 1, 2013, Dr. Wayne Cole announced his retirement after more than 40 years in the field of medicine. The announcement was done quietly, as Dr. Cole never tries to draw attention to himself. It was this genuine humility and sacrifice to others upon which he built his medical practice, and for his legacy in Providence as not only a fine physician but an extraordinary human being, for his accomplishments to the science of medicine, and for the indelible mark he left on the families of Providence, this honorable body commends Dr. Cole today and grants him best wishes as he begins the next chapter of his life;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The Senate hereby commends Dr. Wayne Cole upon a stellar career in medicine, acknowledges the presence he has been in the lives of the families of Webster County, and wishes him the best of luck as he begins his well-deserved retirement.

âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Dr. Wayne Cole.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Dorsey Ridley for delivery.
