A Resolution for increasing U.S. presence in Syria

  1. Whereas, the Syrian government has shown little ability to create a stable and
  2. and democratic nation
  3. Whereas, the Syrian government has used chemical weapons against its own
  4. populations, violating the Geneva Convention, and
  5. Whereas, a prolonged civil war in Syria would destabilize the entire region,
  6. BE IT RESOLVED by this Student Congress here assembled that the United
  7. States military presence in Syria be substantially increased.

A Bill to Promote School Uniforms

Be it Enacted by this Student Congress here assembled:

  1. Section 1: All public schools districts in the United States which receive federal
  2. funds shall be required to mandate student uniforms.
  3. Section 2: “School Uniforms” shall be defined by the Department of Education
  4. Section 3: The Department of Education shall enforce this legislation

A The Department of Education may grant money to Title One schools to

help defray the costs of said uniforms.

B Public school districts may petition the Department of Education for

waivers, subject to guidelines set by the Department of Education

C Funding for this legislation shall come from general federal revenues.

  1. Section 4: This bill shall take effect for the 2018-19 school year.
  2. Section 5: All laws in conflict with this legislation are null and void.

A Bill to Legalize Marijuana

Be it Enacted by this Student Congress here assembled:

  1. Section 1: All federal laws criminalizing marijuana usage are repealed.
  2. Section 2: The term ``marijuana'' means all parts of the plant Cannabis sativa L.,
  3. whether growing or not, as defined in 21 USC 8(d) 816.
  4. Section 3: The Department of Justice shall oversee implementation of this
  5. legislation.
  6. A No federal money may be spent on enforcing laws which criminalize
  7. marijuana.
  8. B The Department of Justice may enforce laws banning marijuana from
  9. being diverted from a state where it is legal to a state where it is not.
  10. C Nothing in this law shall mandate or imply that state or local
  11. governments are required to legalize marijuana.
  12. Section 4: This bill shall take effect on January 2, 2018.
  13. Section 5: All laws in conflict with this legislation are null and void.

A Bill to raise the minimum wage

BE IT ENACTED BY THE STUDENT CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:

Section 1.The Fair Labor Standards Act shall be amended to require a minimum wage of fifteen dollars an hour.

Section 2.“Minimum Wage” includes all workers currently under the FLSA.

Section 3.The Department of Labor shall enforce this legislation.

SECTION 4.The Minimum wage shall be raised to $10 an hour by the end of calendar year 2017, $12.50 an hour by the end of calendar year 2019, and $15 an hour by the end of calendar year 2021.

Section 5. All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null and void.
