A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Dr. Julie Metzger Aubuchon upon being named Kentucky Optometrist of the Year.
WHEREAS, Dr. Julie Metzger Aubuchon has long been a prominent figure in this Commonwealth's optometric community, and in April 2013 her hard work and years of diligent service were duly recognized, as she was named Kentucky Optometrist of the Year at the Kentucky Optometric Association's national meeting in Lexington; and
WHEREAS, since 1993, Dr. Julie Metzger Aubuchon has been a champion for the health and well-being of families and children in her community and in this region of the United States. Along with her staff, she has taken mission trips to Appalachia through the Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corps. Both in her community of Florence and in her outreach programs, Dr. Aubuchon has been an advocate for eye care and for the many patients who have benefited from her humanity, goodwill, and expertise; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Julie Metzger Aubuchon is a proud graduate of Northern Kentucky University and the University of Houston. She is past President of the Kentucky Optometric Association and the United States Junior Chamber; has served on the Boone County Board of Health; is a member of the Medical Reserve Corps and the Northern Kentucky Regional Citizen Corps Council; was a 2011 nominee of the Women Leading Kentucky Leadership Award and a Vision Monday Top 40 Women in Optical; and in 2011, was instrumental in the passage of the Access to Quality Eye Care Act, which was a key piece of legislation for the practice of optometric medicine in Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Julie Metzger Aubuchon was inspired to become an optometrist by her father, Dr. Ferd Metzger. She shares this award with her beloved husband, Pat Aubuchon, and her son, Brady. Dr. Aubuchon has shown that as a mother, a wife, and an optometrist, she is a shining example of the good work done by so many in this Commonwealth's medical community;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
âSection 1. The Senate does hereby honor and commend Dr. Julie Metzger Aubuchon upon her being named the Kentucky Optometrist of the Year, and wishes her good fortune in all her future endeavors.
âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Dr. Julie Metzger Aubuchon.
âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator John Schickel for delivery to the family.
