A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Linda Curtright Fugitt.

WHEREAS, Linda Curtright Fugitt was a daughter of this Commonwealth, having been born in Louisa on May 1, 1935, the cherished daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Curtright, who operated the Curtright Funeral Home; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Fugitt dedicated much of her life to education and music. She graduated from the Louisa school system in 1953 and from Centre College in 1957. She also did some graduate work at the University of Kentucky and eventually became an elementary school music teacher in the Jessamine, Kenton, and Boone County school systems. During this time, she also taught piano lessons and served as Choir Director for the Nicholasville Presbyterian Church. After 30 years of teaching, she retired and joined her husband in Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked as the Executive Director of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and

WHEREAS, throughout her life, Mrs. Fugitt supported the Kentucky Education Association, the Kentucky Medical Association, the Northern Kentucky Electrical Association, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. While in Atlanta, she created the Dunwoody Neighborhood Watch and served as President for some time. She was also a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Phi Delta Kappa, and a member of the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Fugitt departed this earthly life on March 16, 2015, leaving her family, friends, and an entire community in solemn mourning; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her parents, Mrs. Fugitt was preceded in death by her sister, Anne Beth Peters and her husband, Pete, and her nephew, Henry Peters and his wife, Pat. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Charles Fugitt; several nieces, Beth Brady and her husband, Dean, Melissa Fugitt, Julia Fugitt, and Carol Fugitt; a nephew, Lee Peters and his wife, Nora; a cousin, J. Lee Mershon; her brother-in-law, Bobby Fugitt and his wife, Anna; and a host of other relatives;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate hereby expresses its most profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Linda Curtright Fugitt and extends its heartfelt sympathy to her family, friends, and community in this time of loss.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Linda Curtright Fugitt.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Charles Fugitt, 200 Hawthorne Drive, Nicholasville, Kentucky 40356.
