A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Dr. Dale Edward Dunkelberger.

WHEREAS, Dr. Dale Edward Dunkelberger was born in Trevorton, Pennsylvania, the cherished son of the late Homer and Augusta Kuhn Dunkelberger; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Trevorton High School, Houghton College, and Temple University Medical School, Dr. Dunkelberger was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He would also serve in the United States Navy, first in Quantico, Virginia, and then aboard the USS William Mitchell; and

WHEREAS, in 1952, Dr. Dunkelberger moved his family to Wilmore, Kentucky, where he began his medical practice. Over the next 47 years he would deliver 860 babies and would become a pillar of the Wilmore community, both as an outstanding doctor and also as a generous human being who would play a part in the lives of so many children he helped bring into the world; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Dunkelberger was the recording secretary on the board of the Famers Bank in Nicholasville and a faithful member of Wilmore Presbyterian Church, where was an Elder and Sunday School teacher; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Dale Edward Dunkelberger departed this earthly life on November 9, 2013, leaving his family, friends, and an entire community in solemn mourning; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Dunkelberger is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Edith Bullock Dunkelberger; his daughters, Ruth Basney, Janet Dixon, and Lois Bryant; his grandchildren, Claire Ramsey and her husband, Clayton, Lauren Basney, Ross Dixon, Joanna Dixon, and Nathan Brant and his wife, Amanda; and his great-grandchildren, Adelynn Brant, Joshua Ramsey, and Nicholas Ramsey;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The members of the Senate hereby express their most profound and sincere condolences upon the passing of Dr. Dale Edward Dunkelberger, and extend their heartfelt sympathy to their colleague Lois Brant in this time of loss.

âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Dr. Dale Edward Dunkelberger.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Tom Buford for delivery.
