A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Collings James "Jim" Edelen, Jr.
WHEREAS, Jim Edelen, Jr., was a graduate of St. Xavier High School, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Louisville Law School; and
WHEREAS, Jim Edelen, Jr., proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. An engineer for the Colgate Palmolive Company, he was also the Executive Vice President of the former V.V. Cooke Chevrolet Company; and
WHEREAS, Jim Edelen, Jr., was a member of the Kentucky Bar Association for more than 50 years; a cofounder of AMCOR, the nation's first independent sales organization of credit card processing services; the president of the Merchant's Friend, Inc.; president of the Hurstbourne Country Club; vice president of the Greater Louisville Auto Dealers Association; and a longtime member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS, Jim Edelen, Jr., departed this life on December 1, 2013, leaving his family, friends, and an entire community in solemn mourning; and
WHEREAS, Jim Edelen, Jr., was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 46 years, JoAnne Stucker Edelen; his parents, Catherine Freeney Edelen and Collings James Edelen, Sr.; and his sister, Sr. Mary Loyola Edelen. He is survived by his children, Richard, Christopher and his wife, Nanette, Catherine, and David; his brother, Donald J. Edelen and his wife, Virginia; five grandchildren; and 14 nieces and nephews who loved him;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
âSection 1. The Senate hereby expresses its most profound sense of sorrow and proffers its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and community of Collings James "Jim" Edelen, Jr.
âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Collings James "Jim" Edelen, Jr.
âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit three copies of this Resolution to Christopher J. Edelen, DMD, 4892 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40207.
