A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of John J. Isler.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to John J. Isler, our friend and colleague, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, John J. Isler was born on October 23, 1908, a native of New Richmond, Ohio, and longtime resident of Northern Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on January 21, 2002; and

WHEREAS, John J. Isler was the loving son of the late Jacob P. Isler and Lillian Donovan Isler, he was the devoted husband of sixty-nine years to Mary Jo Curran Isler, he was the adored father of two sons, John Isler of Union and William Isler of Edgewood, and he was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, John J. Isler began working for the old Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company as a callboy, and at his retirement thirty-nine years later in 1973, he held the prestigious position of chief clerk; and

WHEREAS, John J. Isler served his constituents from the sixty-fifth Representative District with pride and honesty from 1956 until 1980, and during his tenure with the House of Representatives, he was chairman of the House Enrollment Committee for twenty-six years, he served on the Judiciary Committee, Business, Occupations and Professions Committee, and Insurance and Banking Committee; he was a champion for the elderly, and he was influential in removing food and medicine from the sales tax; and

WHEREAS, it is with fond recollection that we remember John J. Isler, not only for his accomplishments and friendships he made and sustained through the years, but also his compassion for and understanding of the common man, which he demonstrated daily; and

WHEREAS, the passing of John J. Isler has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its utter sense of bereavement upon the passing of John J. Isler, and extends to his family and friends its most profound and deepest sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of John J. Isler, our friend and colleague.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Mary Jo Curran Isler, 6900 Hopeful Road, No. 261, Florence, Kentucky 41042.
