A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Curt B. Greene.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Curt B. Greene, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Curt B. Greene was born on January 27, 1949, a native of Forsyth, Illinois, and longtime resident of Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on April 1, 2000; and

WHEREAS, Curt B. Greene was the loving son of John B. Greene and the late Margaret Cooper Greene; he was a loving special friend to Sallie G. Slone; he was the proud father of a son, Darin Patrick Greene, and two daughters, Natalie Ellen Greene and Valerie Erin Greene; he was the caring brother of Corwyn Greene of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and he was the loving uncle of a niece and nephew, Ashley and Ryan Greene; and

WHEREAS, Curt B. Greene graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1971 where he studied journalism; he was employed as a reporter for the Decatur Herald and Review, and later, as an associate editor of the Horseman and Fair World; he was the author of two books, "The Kentucky Futurity, 100 Years with the American Trotter" and "The New Care and Training of the Trotter and Pacer" and he contributed to several trade journals, including TROT and the Hoosier Horse Review; and

WHEREAS, Curt B. Greene was an esteemed member of the equestrian community, and his expertise, knowledge, and experience gained him recognition and respect among his fellow peers; to mention only a few of his leadership accomplishments, he served as general manager of The Red Mile and Tattersalls Sales Company from 1982 until 1991, and afterwards, he served as a consultant in the United States, Canada, and Europe; he was past executive director of the Illinois Harness Horsemen's Association in Chicago; he was instrumental in the creation of the World Trotting Derby, and he served as past vice president for marketing and public relations for the Duquoin State Fair where he was responsible for marketing and press relations for harness racing's premier event, the Hambletonian; and

WHEREAS, the passion, dedication, and social consciousness Curt B. Greene brought to this Commonwealth will never be forgotten; his passing has left a void that will be difficult to fill, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. This honorable body does hereby express its profound sense of bereavement and loss upon the passing of Curt B. Greene, and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Curt B. Greene.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transfer a copy of this Resolution to Ms. Sallie G. Slone, 1093 Crimson Creek, Lexington, Kentucky 40509.
