A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of Representative John Will Stacy upon his retirement from this Honorable Body following 22 years of service to the people of this Commonwealth.
WHEREAS, Representative John Will Stacy was born on March 29, 1953. A business owner, he is a proud graduate of Morehead State University and the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University; and
WHEREAS, Representative John Will Stacy has served as Majority Whip and on the Committee on Committees, the Enrollment Committee, the Rules Committee, the Natural Resources and Environment Committee, the State Government Committee, the Legislative Research Commission, the Interim Joint Committee on Appropriations and Revenue, and as chair of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Education; and
WHEREAS, Representative John Will Stacy has always been a fierce advocate for his constituents and for the issues that are important to the people of Eastern Kentucky. In the 2005 Regular Session, he co-sponsored legislation attempting to make it easier for large trucks to carry heavy loads. In spirited debate on the House floor, Representative Stacy tirelessly lobbied for the people of his district and the economic well-being of the counties he has so diligently represented; and
WHEREAS, Representative John Will Stacy was instrumental in the relief efforts for West Liberty after the town was decimated by a tornado on March 2, 2012. His impeccable work on House Bill 165 of the 2012 Regular Session was integral to the people of West Liberty as they struggled to pick up the pieces of their lives after that tragic event, and throughout that recovery Representative Stacy was a pillar of calmness and strength when his constituents needed him most; and
WHEREAS, this body hereby honors Representative John Will Stacy for his loyalty to the people of his district and for his more than two decades of meritorious service in the House of Representatives. He is commended for his passion and for his unwavering belief in his constituents' causes, acknowledged for his good humor and his compassion, and rightfully applauded for the sacrifices he has made and the talent he has given up for the citizens he was elected to serve;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives salute the Gentleman from Morgan 71; express their sincere appreciation for his service to his community, the General Assembly, and this Commonwealth; and wish him Godspeed as he awaits new and exciting challenges.
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Representative John Will Stacy.
