A new initiative is being launched in Santa Clara County to end Veteran homelessness.
Will you join the movement to bring our community’s Veterans “All the Way Home”?
Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) vouchers provide homeless veterans with access to affordable housing and an array of supportive services. The Veterans Administration Palo Alto Health Care System (VA) provides referrals and supportive services to VASH participants, while the Housing Authority provides rental subsidies.
The following are benefits of partnering with the Housing Authority
to end Veteran Homelessness:
Ø Guaranteed rent!
The Housing Authority’s portion of the rent is guaranteed during the term of your contract.
Ø Affordable for Tenants!
The Housing Authority doesn’t let tenants move into units that they can’t afford.
Ø Indefinite Subsidy!
The Housing Authority can subsidize a tenant until that tenant has enough income to no longer need the subsidy—however long that takes.
Ø Inspections every two years!
The Housing Authority inspects tenants’ units every 2 years to ensure that there are no serious maintenance, health or safety issues.
Ø Direct deposit!
The Housing Authority offers direct deposit of subsidy payments.
Ø More subsidy!
VASH tenants’ monthly payments are even more affordable for them.
Ø Case management support!
VASH tenants receive at least 1 year of home-visitation case management provided by the VA to help them understand their responsibilities in caring for your units and can serve as a liaison if necessary between you and the tenant or you and the Housing Authority.
Ø Signing bonuses for VASH landlords!
The Housing Authority is partnering with community leaders to create a fund to provide signing bonuses to cover any losses experienced during the inspection and lease-up process or to provide reimbursement if the owner experiences expenses that aren’t covered by the security deposit.
