Lifesaving Award – Sgt. Poole: Chief Peenstra stated when Sgt Poole arrived at a residence, he found two subjects with stab wounds. Sgt. Poole made a makeshift tourniquet with a belt to slow bleeding, and applied direct pressure to the victim’s severed artery for over an hour. John Barnard, North Seneca Ambulance Critical Care Technician, said that in his professional opinion, the victim would not have survived the trip to the hospital without the immediate action of Sgt. Poole. Chief Peenstra commended Sgt. Poole for his actions that night, along with the other Officers that were there. He presented Sgt. Poole with a Lifesaving Citation for his heroic actions which ultimately saved the Individual’s life. The Chief mentioned that this is Sgt. Poole’s second Lifesaving Award since June 1, 2011.
Mr. Earle stated we owe Sgt. Poole thanks, and said it shows how life can be taken away in an instant if people don’t take action.
