  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the general public and to all members of the CSU Channel Islands Student Government that:

A meeting of the Student Government Senatewill be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at California State University Channel Islands, Student Union Conference Room (room 1080), located at One University Drive, Camarillo, CA 93012, to consider and act upon the following matters:

  9. Going to phone bank for prop 55 using the script that CSSA has provided us with
  10. Will happen from now until the end of September and beginning of October

  12. Professionalism – President Noyes and Vice President Pelayo (30 minutes): What is professionalism?
  13. Holding yourself to higher standards at all times, especially when wearing polo or other items showing that you represent student government
  14. Being on time and holding yourself accountable
  15. Fulfilling all of your responsibilities at all times, no matter what you are wearing
  16. Being responsible and accountable for your actions
  17. Having good manners/ saying please and thank you; paying attention to students no matter how busy you are
  18. Communication, being aware of your word choice and how you represent student government
  19. Having respect for each other, looking at people’s eyes when speaking to them
  20. Responding to your email in a timely manner
  21. Supporting each other/being a team as Student Government as a whole

  34. More outreach to let the students know who we are, how we are different from ASI, etc

  36. Keeping our calendar up-to-date
  37. If there are small tasks that interns can help out with, make sure to tell Chief Christopher so that she can assign some of the work to them
  38. Senators Ewing, Fernandez, Heim and Hunt could all use the help of an intern… they are to be contacted by Chief Christopher
  39. Student Government Involvement - President Noyes and Vice President Pelayo (30 minutes)
  40. Why did you join student government?
  41. Wanted to be involved at CI
  42. Wanted to help other students to get involved at CI
  43. Wanted to be in the center of the growth at CI, especially as it grows
  44. CI is a blank slate and they want to help guide the “CI way”
  45. Liked the positive change that being involved had on her attitude
  46. Wanted to help all students and to change the backbone of CI
  47. Realized that student government helps students in a “behind the scenes” kind of way and was intrigued by that
  48. Wanted to help bridge the gap between students and admins; wanted to help the students to realize that there are people in high positions that want to hear about their opinions
  49. By seeing how much people cared, it inspired them to want to care too
  50. Having a larger voice on campus intrigued them, wanted to be able to help other students
  51. The speed in which SG got back to students made them even more interested
  52. Project Brainstorming – President Noyes and Vice President Pelayo (45 minutes)
  53. Academic advisor that is for seniors only, possible winter sessions, changes (reduced cost) during summer classes, academic advising should try and stagger their hours so that more students can see them possibly at later times
  54. Having events that are geared to help certain majors
  55. Tabling randomly in front of the student union simply to talk to students and make sure that know we care
  56. Using the community garden that is to be made to help provide students that are in need offood
  57. Composting bins project that went on last year can be passed onto Chief Christopher to assign to an intern
  58. Director Mena and Senator Fernandez will work with the CI view to represent CI at City Council meetings as well as routinely meet with local government officials
  59. Look into carpooling options, possibly creating a carpooling sticker and a carpool only lot
  60. Possibly revoking parking privileges for freshman housing students that get caught drinking, possibly banning all parking privileges for housing students
  61. Parking privileges is something that the majority of student government would like to talk about as a discussion item at a future meeting
  62. Possibly create a committee for all parking issues
  63. Better communication is needed between parking services and HRE
  64. Senator Heim is going to talk to the RA for outdoor adventures and healthy lifestyles living learning community so that they can use the #FITCI
  65. Senator Ewing will use Prezi to create an informational presentation to inform the clubs
  66. Idea of creating an introduction video to introduce SG that is similar to “Friends” introduction

  3. Senator Fernandez began office hours and will be helping with an event for Sex Education week the week of October 10th, trying to get samples of feminine products
  4. Senator Heim let surf rider foundation (also a sports club) be aware of the greenovation grant
  5. Senator Sailor waiting on the alumni relations to get back to her regarding donations
  6. Senator Hunt spoke about all of his current projects above

  8. Going to mobile food pantry this Friday – President Noyes, Director Mena and Senator Sailor are all going

  10. Has meeting with Dean Deboni – Vice President Pelayo will be attending too
  11. Almost ready for CSSA

  14. Director Mena – we got a lot of students to now be registered to vote, phone banking is coming up
  15. Director Hinojosa – needs emails and phone numbers of all members
  16. Director Mumford – will be attending the VCTC service summit today
