Support Needs/Adjustments / Disability Declaration

At St George’s we are committed to supporting students during their study. It would help us to be made aware of any impairment you have that may result in disability, or any relevant personal circumstances that identify that you may require additional support. This could be in relation to general teaching and learning, or in relation to clinical placements (see below).

This declaration will allow us to investigate possible adjustments to your teaching when you start. However, whilst we will try our best to accommodate the needs of all students it may not always be possible and you should discuss any problems arising with the Admissions Office/ Disability Officer before entry. Please declare all information that you think will be important.

Clinical placements

With the exception of Biomedical Science, all courses offer direct contact with patients and/or time in clinical environments. Where applicable, students can be placed on clinical attachments at a variety of locations and are normally expected to travel to these, and, if necessary, to be temporarily resident at any location in the University’s clinical attachment area. Students can expect to be placed at St George’s and/or at other hospitals (for instance St Helier, Epsom and Kingston), and some students may be distributed in a wide geographical area, including outside the M25.

Students should also remember that the normal working week is Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm. The normal working week can range from 35 to 40 hours, students on some courses may occasionally be required to work evenings and/or overnight in “on-call” situations.
