From the COMMANDER:It is with much regret to inform you that Oscar Sims resigned as Post Commander on Tuesday, 19 March, 2013. Oscar, on behalf of the entire Legion Family, we would like to thank you for your years of service to the Legion and our Veterans. So, when you see Past Commander Oscar Sims, please tell him thank you for all the good memories and accomplishments during his time as Commander.

I have enjoyed serving as your Post Adjutant for the past ten years and accepted the vote by the Executive Board to replace the vacant office of commander. Likewise, Joseph Shores accepted the vote by the Executive Board to replace the vacant office of adjutant. I would like to thank the Executive Board for the opportunity to serve as your new Commander and look forward to our time together as a “Legion Family”! Thanks for all you do, each and every day, for our Veterans.

FOR GOD and COUNTRY, COMMANDER PAT GARRETT

From the SENIOR VICE CDR:Membership is still coming in slowly; slowly being the operative word. If you know someone who has been a member and has not renewed this year, remind them. If you want to keep your membership active and keep your years of service, you have to pay the piper.

Elections are just around the corner. June will be here before you know it. The elections have to take place No Later ThanJune 6th. And remember, if only one person is running unchallenged for any elected position, then an election is not needed for that position. The candidate will be confirmed in the position by a single unanimous ballot cast by the Adjutant, in accordance with Article III, Section 3 of our post bylaws. If you are interested in running for an officer position or want to be on the E-board let one of the officers or E-board members know. More info on the elections will be in the May newsletter.

SEMPER 178, MIKE ANDERSON

From the POST ADJUTANT:There has been a change in the officers of the post. I have accepted the position of Adjutant for the rest of the 2012-2013 year. My name is Joseph Shores and some will know me as Troll. If I can assist anyone, please call me at 706-833-9765 or e-mail me at . Thank you for your service, and your continued support.

From the AUXILIARY PRESIDENT:Auxiliary members, we are meeting on Thursday, April 4th at 7pm to talk about changing our meeting nightto the first Thursday of the month. We had a great District meeting, ''appreciation day'' and St. Patrick's Day. I would like to thank everyone who helped. The Easter egg huntwent well also. I am so proud of the unit. We made our membership goal.

Please come on the 2nd Friday steak night and support the Auxiliary. We need to support our Legion events as a legion family. It is that time of year to begin getting our reports ready for the year. Please write up what you did this year and leave it at the post for me. We will start working on our reports. Thank you again for all you do for our veterans and children. FOR GOD and COUNTRY, MIRIAM STEIN
