A How To Guide: Using PowerPoint
Adding Sound From the Internet
1. Select a .wav File from the Internet to download.
2. When downloading a .wav file from the Internet you will be prompted with a screen that asks
if you want to open the file, or save it; select save.
3. Select the A or C drive, find your folder and select save.
4. After the file downloads return to your PowerPoint presentation and select Insert, sound
from file.
5. Select the A or C drive, find your folder and choose the .wav file that you downloaded.
6. After selecting the downloaded .wav a small .wav icon will appear on your slide.
7. To play your .wav, simply click on the small .wav icon, to stop playing, click on the icon again.
Adding Movies
1. Select a movie from the Internet you wish to play.
2. When downloading a movie from the Internet, you will be prompted with a screen that gives
you the option to save or open file, choose save file.
3. Select the A or C drive and find your folder, click save.
4. After the download of the movie is complete, return to your PowerPoint presentation.
5. Select Insert, Movies and Sounds, Movie from File.
6. Go to the A or C drive, find your file and choose the movie that you saved.
7. You can resize the movie window by dragging the corners outward.
8. To make the movie play, view your slide show and double click on the movie when ready to play
it.
9. Browse the play settings by right clicking on your movie when in PowerPoint and clicking on
the play settings tab. Select different movie playing options in order to select one that you
like.
Inserting Photos From the Web
1. Pick a photo from the Internet wanted on your slide.
2. Right click on the photo, a shortcut menu will pop up.
3. Select save picture as.
4. Go to the A or C drive and select your folder.
5. Click Save. Your photo will now be saved into your folder.
6. Return to your PowerPoint presentation screen.
7. Click Insert, and scroll down to insert picture from file and click.
8. Go to the A or C drive, find your folder, select your picture’s file name, and click insert.
9. Now you can resize your photo by pulling the resizing handles, or move your photo by clicking
on it and dragging it to the desired position.
Don’t forget to save your work periodically!!!
