A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND DAWN RISTER FOR HER THIRTEEN YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS IRMO HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL COACH, AND TO WISH HER WELL AS SHE TAKES ON NEW CHALLENGES.

Whereas, Dawn Rister, softball coach at Irmo High School since 1995, will soon leave her position in order to take on new challenges; and

Whereas, although she won’t quit loving and watching her sport, her team, or her school, Mrs. Rister believes this is the year for her to begin spending more time at home with her three children, Taylor, twelve; Tucker, ten; and Cooper, five. She looks forward to “just being a mom,” including picking up Taylor from drama practices, cheering on Tucker at his baseball games, and encouraging Cooper at teeball matches; and

Whereas, with the help of her husband, Doug, Mrs. Rister has made her sports career and fast-paced home life work together during her thirteen years at Irmo, and she gives all the credit to him for his support; and

Whereas, Dawn Rister closed her final season as Irmo head softball coach with the best kind of celebration: championship wins by her 174 “Lady Yellow Jackets,” who brought home the 2008 Region 4 AAAA championship and the 2008 District 4 championship; and

Whereas, while the House regrets Irmo’s loss of such an outstanding teacher and coach, the members join in extending their best wishes to Mrs. Rister for success at her next “coaching” assignment, where her family will be the “home team.” Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Dawn Rister for her thirteen years of dedicated service as Irmo High School softball coach, and wish her well as she takes on new challenges.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dawn Rister.
