Deliver the Dream’s 5thannual Community Champions Awards Raises Nearly $50k for Families In Need

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. –Deliver the Dream, a South Florida-based nonprofit,hosted their 5th annual Community Champions Awards to honor outstanding leaders in our community and raised nearly $50,000 for the charity’s family retreat program.

The event – presented by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Bluegreen Vacations –was Wednesday, April 1at Lavan Events. The evening featured a cocktail reception,buffet dinner and exciting awards ceremony to honor the champions.Chantal Leconte’s daughter and former honoree Fabienne Fahnestock of Gunster Law surprised her mom with a touching introduction. Stephen Moss of Holland and Knight introduced his dear friend Roy Rogers and Deliver the Dream board member Ellen Devine celebrated Susan Saturday on stage. Nathalie Rodriguez, on air radio personality from 939, was the evening’s emcee. The esteemed honorees selected for this year were:

Proceeds from the eventwill go directly to Deliver the Dream’s Family Retreat Program, which helps families who have a child or a parent living with an illness or going through a crisis. The retreats invite up to 15 families, free of charge, to get away from the stress of their every day lives and connect with other families living with similar circumstances. Each monthly retreat focuses on a different illness or disorder such as Cancer, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Sickle Cell or Down syndrome.

Deliver the Dream, Inc. is a non-profit respite and retreat program that serves families facing serious illness or crisis by helping them to enhance coping skills, reduce stress, and cultivate relationships.Deliver the Dream offers retreat weekends, which combine traditional recreational activities like hiking and fishing, with therapeutic workshops, peer-to-peer discussion groups and expressive arts and music activities. The retreats are provided at no cost to participants. Nearly 6,000 family members throughout the Southeast have attended a Deliver the Dream weekend since retreats began in the Fall of 2002.
