Dear Parents,

A cold front is supposed to come through tonight bringing colder temperatures and a chance for rain. Please put your child’s initials in the tag/label in the collar of their coat or jacket so that we can figure out who the coat belongs to. We have several coats and jackets in the Lost & Found box and do not know to whom they belong. Believe me, your child may not recognize their coat or jacket when asked if it belongs to them!

The UIL Academic Meet for Jr High and Elementary is this Thursday, December 7th. A letter to parents will go out tomorrow with a permission slip for students’ participation in the contest. Good luck to all our elementary students in second through sixth grades who are participating in the contest. We wish the best of luck to our Junior High as well!

In your child’s Monday folder you will find information on a big event at the Higginbotham Center on Saturday, December 9th. Santa is coming to town at 10:30 a.m. with good bags for the first 75 kids. There will also be an opportunity for pictures to be made with Santa for $5. There is a baking contest with a $50 prize for the overall winner in each of three divisions – adult- Jr High/High – Elementary. There will be ribbons awarded for 1st-3rd place in the coloring contest and Christmas games. There will be stew, chili, and soup for lunch with donations appreciated. The silent auction and cake suction is at noon and proceeds benefit the Rising Star Livestock Raisers buying pool for the Rising Star students exhibiting livestock projects in the Eastland County Stock Show in January. This event is lots of fun and we hope to see everyone there!

The Junior Lady Cats and Wildcats play basketball tonight at Cross Plains beginning at 6:00 p.m. The HS Ladycats play in Santa Anna at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow night. The Wildcats play Highland at Wildcat Gym tomorrow night starting at 6:00 p.m.

The National Honor Society of Rising Star HS has placed a collection box for Toys for Tots in the entrance to Rising Star Elementary. The toys will be distributed to local children so please donate new toys for our children. The toy drive ends December 8th.

Let’s make it a very good week!
