A ‘Christmas Cheer’

We need to raise a huge ‘Christmas Cheer’ for the amazing fundraisers in Kingsteignton School who managed to raise a staggering £800.00 for Children in Need. The High Impact Interval Training sessions were so well sponsored that some individual children raised over £90.00. What an amazing feat for such a small school! Children, staff and parents should all feel very proud of themselves!

Christmas Production

Wow! What an amazing Christmas production with the Aliens! The children were fantastic at learning their lines and singing out to all the great songs. We were so proud of how well they performed in the dress rehearsal with an audience of St Michael’s Reception children and Froglets and then in the two main performances for parents. The venue at the United Reform Church was just perfect and very many thanks to the Rev Phil for all his help and support. Huge thanks must go to Miss Bull and Mrs Peters for their energy and skill in bringing together such a wonderful nativity. Huge thanks also to Mrs Hewings and Mrs Burnham for their unstinting support. We are so lucky to have such hard working and enthusiastic staff who are prepared to go to the next level for the benefit of the children!

Rowan Class Trip to Kent’s Cavern

Rowan class had an amazing trip to Kent’s Cavern to meet Father Christmas. It was all very exciting (if a little scary for some!). The children behaved impeccably all day and we were so proud of them. They were a real credit to the school. Rowan berries earned were definitely deserved and a special treat at the end of term will celebrate their great teamwork and amazing behaviour.

Uniform

I would like to remind everyone that school uniform needs to be correct and consists of white shirt/ grey pinafore/skirt or trousers or a lilac summer dress and black shoes. Please ensure that our children look really smart at all times!!

Newcross new building site

The builders are on site and we are hoping to take a few children down to the site on Thursday or Friday (dependant on weather) to take a photograph and to publicise the start of the build. We will then all, hopefully, take part in a turf cutting visit to celebrate with a range of interested parties in another ‘start of build’ in the New Year.

Picking up children

Please could you ensure that you let us know if another person is picking up your child at the end of the day. It is very difficult for teachers (and Principals!!) to remember verbal messages in the morning particularly as it might be one of four or five received. In order to keep your children safe, we would ask that you email the office or call and leave a message about the pickup. Letters in children’s bags can go astray and we want to be absolutely sure there can be no ambiguity about what is happening at the end of each day. If we are not sure because we have not received a message from you, we will keep hold of your child and phone you for advice.

Reporting Absence

Please ensure you ring every day to report your child’s sickness for as long as your child is off school. Many thanks.

Consultation about school admission and education travel arrangements

Devon County Council consults on all aspects of its admission and transport arrangements so that parents, school staff and governors and representatives of the community have an annual opportunity to review arrangements and make comments and suggestions for improvement. The consultation can be found at ww.devon.gov.uk/admissionarrangements where there are links to various documents which make up Devon’s proposed arrangements and links to school’s own proposed policies. The consultation will run until 5th of January 2018 and you are very welcome to respond if you wish.
