“Christmas City by the Sea”

Entry Information for Builders of Seascapes, Boats

Ships, Sea monsters or Sea fantasy

AGE CATEGORY:

·  Open to LEGO® builders from 7 to 18 years

SELECTION CRITERIA:

·  Be creative, original and have fun building!

·  Interpret the theme: “LEGO life – on, around or from the sea”

·  Be inspired by ships from any of our museum exhibits or from LEGO® life.

·  All work must have a title.

·  Submit a story about your creation. (one paragraph)

BUILDING CONTEST RULES:

·  Use your own LEGO® bricks and elements to build an original creation at home. Bring your completed creation to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic for review and display.

·  Use only genuine LEGO® bricks, elements, and pieces. Non-Lego embellishments may be added but the build must be made from LEGO®. Constructions made from specialty themed LEGO® kits are not eligible and will be disqualified, although elements from specialty kits may be used in original designs.

·  Duplo blocks are not permitted.

·  LEGO® designs must be original.

·  Only one entry per shipbuilder.

·  Your creation must fit within a space of 23cm (9”) by 46cm (18”) and be no taller than 31cm (12”)

·  Entries must be brought ready to be displayed, secured with no loose parts. Construction will not be permitted on site.

·  Entries must be delivered in person to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic,
1675 Lower Water St, starting on November 20th until January 11th.

·  All entries must be accompanied by a fully completed entry form. Forms are also available at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic or downloaded from the website at maritimemuseum.novascotia.ca

·  Model selection will begin on December 8 and continue until the LEGO® harbor & pier display (LEGO®: Christmas at Sea) are full. (i.e. rolling admission)

·  Judging and public viewing will begin on December 8th and continue until
February 1, 2015.

EXHIBIT CLOSING:

All participating shipbuilders are responsible for picking up their creations.

LEGO® entries must be removed from the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic after the closing of the exhibit on February 2, 2015 or by no later than February 9th , 2015 during museum hours.

JUDGING:

A panel of staff and/or professionals will judge the entries for Interpretation of the Theme appropriate to the exhibit.

PRIZES:

Several prizes will be awarded to recognize "LEGO® builders" and their creative entries displaying original interpretation of the Maritime Museums' diverse exhibit themes.

LIABILITY:

All possible care will be taken in the handling of entries. Entrants accept that the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is not responsible for loss of or damage to any entry.

By entering the contest, all entrants (i.e. shipbuilders) and/or their legal guardians agree to release the contest sponsors and Maritime Museum of the Atlantic of all liability that could result from participating in the contest and attending the contest,.? By submitting an entry into this contest, entrants and their parents/guardians hereby grant permission to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and sponsors to use any photographs or video of the entrant or the entrant’s submitted model for any promotional use. Last names will not be used on the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic website but may be used in museum publications.

By submitting an entry form and creation for this contest, entrants and their parents/guardians agree to these official rules and regulations and the final decisions of the judges.

At the museum, we want you to know that we are taking good care of your LEGO entry. To ensure the best of care, you will be asked to fill out a loan form when you deliver your LEGO creation to the reception desk at the Maritime Museum.
