Build a Family

Instructions: In groups of five/six create a family unit. Your family unit must include the following information:

A combination of family members, extended family members, and at least one non-related person

Your family must have:

· a last name

· each person introduce themselves to the class by sharing their first name and family role

· each person must share FIVE pieces of personal information about themselves or their family

· each person must use at least one bridge in their presentation

Upon completing your information you should introduce the next person in your family.

Focus on signs from chapter 2 in your presentation: It is important to use the vocabulary from this chapter in your presentation. Get out your chapter 2 vocabulary packet and decide together who will use which signs. Do not repeat vocabulary. Do not look up vocabulary in the dictionary. Students should be able to translate what you sign and they cannot do that if you use new signs. You should have a minimum of 6 signs from the chapter vocabulary in your individual presentation. Please underline or high-light the signs from the chapter that you use.

Special Note: Each group member receives an individual grade of 50 points. Make sure that you:

· Sign all the required information

· Use all signs correctly

· Use proper sign order. Each person must use at least one rhetorical question in their presentation.

· Use proper non-manuals

You are being given class time to work on this presentation together and time on your own to perfect and memorize your individual role at home. Write/gloss the script the first day so that you can perfect your signing at home. Do not waste your class time as I have high expectations of you. You are expected to have the information memorized. Eye contact with the audience is an important part of your grade. Below is an example of what one family member might say:
