“Like us on Facebook!” and “Follow us on Twitter!”

Independence Now has been a little slow to join the social media revolution. At long last, we now have both a Facebook page and a Twitter account!

Our Facebook Place page is at facebook.com/InNowOrg and Twitter account is tweet us @InNowOrg.

The establishment of these accounts and making them active has been a long held goal that we finally made happen when we started the design element of our new website. Check out Innow.org and let us know what you think via Twitter or Facebook.

The web designer told us that we needed to have a presence on Facebook and Twitter at a minimum and that we should consider adding others such as Instagram. So we, “bit the bullet” and have been posting and tweeting to our hearts content. Now if we can only get in the habit of taking more pictures at events we will find the motivation to set up and share our pictures and videos on Instagram.

INDEPENDENCE NOW’S TRAVEL TRAINING PROGRAM

Independence Now offers one-on-one Travel Training for residents of Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties with significant disabilities to learn to use the fixed-route public transit services to get to work, play, school, or wherever you want to go!

WE TEACH:

• How to plan a trip using WMATA’s Trip Planner on line or over the phone

• How and where to board a bus or subway for your trip

• How to pay your fare and how to use a SmarTrip Card

• How to cross the street safely

• How to be successful on the bus or subway

• How to ride the bus or subway safely

• How and who to ask for help if needed

WHAT WE DO:

• Meet with you to find out what you already know, where you want to learn to travel, where to start, and how to get there.

• Take you out “on the road” to find out what your travel needs are and how to reach them.

• Travel Training: one-on-one training until you can make the trip independently.

TRAVEL TRAINING is YOUR key to FREEDOM

Using the bus or the subway puts you in control of your own travel plans. Go when you want, where you want, as often as you want!
