With extensive knowledge and experience gained as a businessman, NASA astronaut and Naval test pilot, Pierre Thuot (pronounced THOO-it) speaks to such themes as teamwork, critical decision making and living and working in space. Thuot spent 10 years with NASA as one of its elite astronauts. Selected in 1985, he flew onboard three launches of the Space Shuttle. Upon his retirement from NASA in 1995, he logged nearly 18 hours during three "space walks," traveled more than 11 million miles and orbited the Earth 437 times.

Thuot graduated 30th in his class from the U. S. Naval Academy in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. He received a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California in 1985. Thuot received his Naval Flight Officer wings in August 1978 then graduated from TOPGUN, the Navy Fighter Weapons School and was selected to attend the U. S. Naval Test Pilot School.

Thuot is the recipient of eleven personal awards and 18 team achievement awards. Upon retiring from NASA, Thuot became the Associate Chairman of the Aerospace Engineering Department at the U. S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Thuot retired from the Navy in August 1998 and served for 2 ½ years as the Vice President of Administration and Special Programs with the Space Systems Group of Orbital Sciences Corporation, Dulles, Virginia. Thuot is currently the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at Hawkeye Systems, LLC.
