ANNOUNCEMENTS

The junior class would like to thank all of those who made this year’s prom such a success. This includes the parents and relatives who donated their time, their homes, and their energy. Many parents provided us with materials at no cost, and we thank you very much. There would be no prom without you! We would also like to thank those who donated the use of their vehicles: Cletus Schroeder, Chuck Veitenheimer, Terry Johnson and Bobby Scheffe. They really set-off the theme and are so cool! Also we want to thank Postel Credit Union for use of their decorations, Jennifer and Gary Julian for their tables and chairs, Shelley Schlumpf for use of her table cloths, and David and Teresa Veitenheimer for the use of their tables. We really had a great time and memories that will last a life time. Thank you all! THE JUNIOR CLASS

WINDTHORST BAND WINS TOP HONORS

The band at Windthorst set out on Wednesday, April 8, to achieve something that hadn't been done in six years: achieve a sweepstakes award at UIL competitions. There are three phases to a sweepstakes award: marching contest, concert contest, and sight reading contest. In order to achieve this honor, a band must receive First Division ratings in each of the three contests. And that is exactly what the band accomplished. The band, under the direction of Brian Beeson, got First Division ratings from all three judges in both concert and sight reading contests to earn the award. "I'm just so proud of the kids," said Beeson, who is in his first year as Windthorst Band Director. "They have worked very hard all year long to get better, and it's been a joy to see their hard work pay off."

The band now turns its sights on its Spring Concert, which will be held on Tuesday, May 12, at 6:30 pm, before it departs on May 14 to head for Branson, MO.

Calendar:

April 25 7th Grade band to BullFest/6 Flags

May 12 Spring Concert 7:00 p.m.

May 14-16 Varsity Band Trip to Branson

Thank you one and all for your continued support of our band program.
