YESAB REVIEW OF PROPOSED CAMP ON THE SOUTH CANOL
It has come to WTAY’s attention that a camp is being proposed on the South Canol Road and is currently under YESAB review. The camp would hold 50 people and smaller camps of approximately 15 people would also be in the surrounding area. If this project is of concern to you, please review the information below. If any WTAY member would like our support opposing this camp, please notify the office and provide details of your opposition.

Project Scope
The British Exploring Society is proposing the establishment of a camp at Rose Lake along the South Canol Road, approximately 75 km southwest of Ross River and 150 km northeast of Johnson’s Crossing. This camp will be the base camp for trekking and paddling expeditions for youth aging from 16-25. The expeditions include a choice of a 3-week trek, a 3-week paddle or a 5-week trek & paddle in the Pelly Mountain area and along the Teslin River. The expedition teams will explore the surrounding areas by foot or canoe and take part in a variety of science projects such as flora and fauna surveys, permafrost transects and water sampling.
The expedition is anticipated to occur in the summer of 2017, from mid-late July to late August, depending on flights.
Project Activities:
Establishment of a base camp (max. 50 people)
Establishment of smaller camps while on expeditions (max. 15 people)
Guided expeditions (trekking and canoeing) and science surveys/studies
