Welcome to MCPS

Onboarding Process f or New or Returning Employees

To access the Onboarding Portal click the “Onboarding Portal” link located in the “Welcome to MCPS” email that was sent to your personal email account. Log in using the same user name you used to log into Careers to apply for the position. Copy and paste the temporary password (also called “access code”) which you received in the same email.

Note: the Onboarding Portal password can be reset by clicking on the "forgot password" link on the Onboarding portal login screen.

MCPS Computer Accoun t

When hired by MCPS, you are assigned a unique Employee ID number (ex. 000012345) and MCPS User Name (also called a Login ID or User ID) and given a temporary Password.

Both emails will be sent to your personal email address used when applying for a position in MCPS. Please check your spam if you did not receive this email from

Your MCPS User Name remains with you throughout your career at MCPS. MCPS security policy requires you to change your password every 120 days.

After you receive your temporary password, immediately log into myID, MCPS’s password management system.

TIP: Log onto outlook email every pay period for important information sent by MCPS, including a reminder to change your password prior to expiration.

Access to MCPS applications

As a n employee, you will access applications that require a secure user name and password

Your job code or position determines access rights to most MCPS applications. (Some items on the list below may not be applicable to your position) Additional access requires written permission from an administrator.

Some MCPS applications require a different password. The most common stand-alone accounts are:

· Achievement Series (emailed to teacher)

· Daily Attendance (emailed to secretary)

· NWEA reports website (emailed to teacher)

· mClass (see Reading Specialist)

· Edline (see Edline Superuser)

· Online Resources (see Media Specialist)

IMPORTANT MESSAGE RE: SECURITY: Do not leave your computer unattended while you are logged in. You can lock the computer at any time by pressing the Windows logo key+L on your keyboard. Also it is a security violation if you share confidential access credentials provided to you by MCPS. By logging into a computer or account supplied by MCPS you acknowledge you have read MCPS Regulation IGT-RA (User Responsibilities for Computer Systems and Network Security), and understand its contents. Violation of the regulation is unethical and may be a criminal offense. Should you commit any violation, your access privileges may be revoked, disciplinary action may be imposed, and/or appropriate legal action may be taken. Human Resources Online (HRO) Change Direct D eposit

Substitute Employee Management System (SEMS)

The Substitute Employee Management System is accessible via phone and the web. It allows teachers to enter absences and substitutes to obtain job assignments. To access the quick start guide, go to the Substitute Employee Management System webpage.

Logging into Outlook e-mail

To access your email, from a non-MCPS computer or from home, go to the Outlook Web Access page from the MCPS home page.

Note: Not all browsers support the full version of Outlook Web Access (OWA). MCPS recommends using Internet Explorer (IE) v7 or higher. MAC users and other browsers will automatically default to the Outlook Web Light version.

How do I sign up for training using PDO?

1. Log into PDO.

2. Enter your Outlook/ePaystub user name and password.

3. Log on

Finding a class

1. Enter one or two keywords under Course Title.

2. Click Search.

3. Click View Sections tab.

4. Click the Section Title (in blue lettering) of the section you choose.

5. The Course Detail page opens.

6. Click Register below.

7. Click Next.

8. Confirmation screen appears.

Data

OASIS (Online Administrative Student Information System) provides a central location for viewing and updating student administrative data, including enrollment, scheduling, demographic and special services information.

MyMCPS is the major depository for student data, assessment data, reports, instructional resources, and curriculum and collaboration sites. Need help logging into myMCPS from home?

If you are unable to see your classes or students, check with your school’s scheduler to confirm that classes and students are correct i n OASIS.

Many technical and non-technical questions can be answered by using the search feature at the MCPS website www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org.
