Classwork 20%

Quizzes 15%

Homework 10%

______

TOTAL 100%

Homework

Homework will be checked/reviewed throughout the period. 5 points will be deducted each day it is late. After the fifth day late, the highest you can receive is a 50%. Current missing assignments will be posted in the classroom. It is your responsibility to monitor your missing work and complete it for partial credit.

Classwork

Classwork consists of assignments completed in class (group and individual), class participation, and being prepared. Everyone will start with a 100% for preparation. For every day you are unprepared, one point will be deducted from the preparation grade. You will not be permitted to go to your locker once class has begun.

Tests/Quizzes/Projects/Labs

Tests: They will always be announced at least three days in advance!! No excuses for being unprepared for a test. A test review in the form of a review game, study guide, or both will precede all tests the day before the scheduled test.

Quizzes: They will be announced and unannounced (pop-quizzes). Unannounced quizzes will be open-notebook. Everything is fair game so take detailed notes!!

Projects: There will be individual and group projects throughout the year. Projects will include, but will not be limited to: physical models, demonstrations, oral presentations, research papers, and science notebook checks.

Labs: Lab grades are based on not only the written report, but also how well you work within your group. Please follow the lab rubric to ensure your paper is of the utmost quality.

Retakes

For any quiz you receive a 66% or below on, you will be required to complete a remediation assignment for more practice. Any test you receive a 66% or below on, you can retake during office hours. It is up to you to change your grade, which is your responsibility as a student. Your parents/guardians will be required to sign your agreement slip.

Absentee Make Up Work

If you are absent, you are responsible for getting any missing notes from someone in class. Any handouts given out while you were absent can be found in the red hanging folder in the classroom. All make-up work should be completed within 1 week of absence for full credit. It is your responsibility to submit/show your make-up work. If you are absent the day of an announced quiz or test, be prepared to take it the day you return, preferably after school.

Extra Credit

Extra Credit opportunities will be provided throughout the marking period. Extra Credit may be handed in at any point throughout the marking period up to 5 days prior to the last day of the marking period to be credited for that marking period.

Science Notebooks
Notebooks must be in class every day. Notebooks will be periodically inspected for organization. Keep all science notes, handouts, and corrected work in the correct order in your notebook. They will be useful for following classes. Everything should be legible. If I can’t read it, it will not be graded.

Proper Assignment Heading

For work that is handed in, a proper heading must be used. A proper heading should begin with your FULL name (first and last), the date, the period of the class, my name, and the assignment title.

Academic Honesty

It is expected that each student adhere to the Franklin Township academic honesty and plagiarism policy. This means that all work will be done, by the individual student, in his or her own words. Do it right the first time, or be prepared to do it over.
