Adding CSC 3400: Database Design and Applications would mean adding nine credit hours, due to prerequisites, to address this competency and strengthen (h) below. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science will work with the Department of Business and Economics to design new courses in the near future to address these two competencies more fully.

This course provides an up-to-date, business-oriented overview of information systems. The course purpose is to help the student attain a basic understanding of information technology (IT), develop a framework for analyzing business needs, evaluate IT solutions, define project goals and understand the project’s impact on an organization. This is not a course about hands-on use of computers.
5. Career development.

A multi-disciplinary examination of leadership from political and management perspectives. Topics include understanding leadership traits, abilities, behaviors, sources of power, and elements of situations that determine effectiveness of leaders to influence followers and achieve organizational objectives
7. Understanding of and proficiency in grammar, usage, and mechanics and their integration in writing. / COM 3450: Technical Writing
This course provides training in effective writing for business and professional settings. In addition to grammar, style, and editing, students will discuss and practice technical writing forms including procedural reports, problem analysis, recommendation reports and business proposals.
8. Knowledge and skills necessary to apply basic mathematical operations to solve business problems. / MTH 1150: Applications of Mathematics
An application based course in mathematics including topics in logic, personal business finance, statistical reawoning, probability and mathematical modeling. Emphasis will be given to problem solving and real world settings.
