1.1 Pre-registering to order uniforms at the USCG Uniform Distribution Center

First time users will need to Pre-Register . Complete the form in its entirety and a confirmation email will be sent to you confirming your registration. Orders can be placed by fax, telephone or on-line.

Log on to http://www.uscg.mil/hq/cg1/udc/

1. On the top left hand side of the page you will see placing orders. Click on it.

2. In the middle of the page under shop on line you will see the pre-registration area. Click on it and fill in your information and submit. You will have to wait for an email confirmation before you can view or order uniform items on this website.

3. Once you have your password you can enter the website and shop on-line. Click on the on-line ordering link, listed under shop on line.

4. To log in, use your Auxiliary member number, and your selected Password. If you've forgotten your Password or wish to change it, click on the "Request/Change Login and Password" link on the web store login page.

5. Once you log in there will be one more window. You will need to put a check mark in the box at the bottom to verify that you are indeed a member of the USCG Aux and then continue. This will bring you to the on-line shopping.

6. You might want to mark this website in your computer under bookmark or favorites so it is readily available to you.

1.2 Auxiliary Specific Uniform Items

1. There are two other websites that auxiliary specific items can be ordered from. Items such as t-shirts, riggers belts, ball caps, name tags, name tapes, auxiliary tapes sew on items, devices, etc.

a. http://stores.homestead.com/ShopAuxiliary/StoreFront.bok (Auxiliary Center). You will need your member number, flotilla number and password to create your account to purchase items.

b. http://uscgaux-5sr.bizhosting.com/index.html (USCG Auxiliary 5th District Store). You will need your member number and flotilla number to create your account to purchase items.

1.3 Hot Weather Uniform

This uniform is to be worn only during the summer months for on-the-water operations and vessel examinations. It is not to be worn to meetings or public affair events.

1. The Hot Weather Uniform shirt is the ODU Blue T-shirt, stenciled or embroidered with the words “USCG AUXILIARY” across the front left chest in white ¾-inch tall block-style letters.

2. The Auxiliary Standard Ball Cap (Optional member’s cap device).

3. The Blue ODU Shorts.

4. The Black Riggers Belt. Stock #6010

5. Dark blue or brown boat shoes or white sneakers with white socks.

All these items with the exception of the foot wear can be purchased at the USCG Auxiliary5th District Store Website http://uscgaux-5sr.bizhosting.com/index.html, click on” Uniform Items” from the categories listed on the left hand side of the page. This will bring you to a new list of uniform categories that you can order from.

1.4 Operational Dress Uniform (ODU)

This uniform may be worn year-round primarily as a field utility and watchstanding uniform, and may be worn in an office environment.

1. The ODU consists of the ODU untucked blouse and untucked trousers with the hot weather t-shirt worn under the ODU Blouse. The ODU blouse, trouser, black riggers belt, and trouser blouser can be purchased at the Uniform Distribution Center.

2. Other items to be worn with the ODU are the Auxiliary ball cap (optional member’s device), black riggers belt, 8 or 10 inch black boots, with black socks. The trouser blousers will be used with the boots. The boat shoe (dark blue or brown leather, low cut moccasin type construction with functional rawhide lacing, brass eyelets, and non-marking sole) is an authorized option for Auxiliarists when involved with on –the –water operations only, regardless of the type ODU that is worn. (Regular or Hot Weather Uniform).

3. The Auxiliary cloth name tape will be sewn above the left pocket. The member’s cloth name tape will be sewn above the right pocket. Both tapes should be centered over the pocket with the width of the tape running the width of the pocket. The member’s sew on collar devices are optional, but designated by the members position in the Flotilla. For example Flotilla Member, Flotilla Staff Officer, or Elected Officer.

1.5Tropical Blue Uniform (TROPS)

This uniform can be worn for all occasions when a tie is not necessary, and the uniform will not be soiled.

1. The Tropical Blue consists of the same items for both men and women; however the combination covers are different. There are also a couple of different types of dress shirts for the women. One is the tuck in blouse and the other is the female over blouse. Also the women have a choice of slacks or a skirt. Unlike the ODU where the uniform is unisex. The tropical blue has sizes in both the men and women’s uniforms.

2. Cover: Combination or Garrison;

3. Shirt: Short sleeve, light blue, never with tie; V-neck white undershirt (men)—no visible collar;

4. Insignia: Enhanced shoulder boards;

5. Attached: Nametag, ribbons, qualification devices;

6. Pants: Dark blue dress with black web belt;

7. Feet: Black socks and black leather undecorated oxford shoes.

2.1 Boat Crew Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

If you have decided to participate in the Boat Crew Program you will need the on-the - water equipment before you can go out on patrols. The items that you must have are as follows:

1. Personal Flotation Device PFD Typed III or Inflatable (must be USCG Auxiliary )

2. Emergency Signal Mirror

3. Plastic Whistle

4. Personal Marker or Strobe Light

5. 3 inch survival knife is recommended, but not required ( knife can be either fixed blade with sheath or folding, as long as the folding knife can be opened with one hand.)

2.2 Mustang Survival Website

1. To order USCG Auxiliary marked PFD’s you will need to order them at the Mustang Survival Website. Mustang distributes their products to stores which in turn sell it to the public. However, being in the Auxiliary we are able to fax orders directly to them with your member number and they will ship the products to you. There are other retailers that sell the Mustang Products with the Auxiliary Logo if you want to Google other websites such as this one: http://www.perrimarinesales.com/

3. On the top of the page click on Pro Solutions, then on Coast Guard.

4. In the middle of the page you will find the USCG Auxiliary Order Form. You can make a copy of the form and call them for pricing before you place the order. Once you know what you want make out the form and fax it in.

2.3 Other Locations to find PPE

1. West Marine has a location in Wilmington, NC, and N. Myrtle Beach, SC where the items can be purchased.

2. Cape Fear Tackle on Howe Street in Southport, NC is carrying the strobe light and could order it for you.

3. Wal-Mart Sporting Good department would have a whistle, signal mirror, and knife.

2.4 Location of Boat Crew Sign Off Sheets and Training Manuals

1. Log into the USCG /Auxiliary National website http://www.cgaux.org/

2. At the top of the page put your mouse on AUX MEMBERS, scroll down to Auxiliary Manuals and click on it. Scroll down to the middle of the page and you will find the Boat Crew Program Manuals and Publications that you will need for the program.

3. Your Flotilla Staff Officer Member Trainer (FSO-MT) can order you the sign off sheets from the Flotilla Staff Officer Materials Procurement (FSO-MA).

3.1 How to Become a Recreational Boat Safety Program Visitor

1. How to obtain the study materials: Log on to the USCG Auxiliary National Website http://www.cgaux.org/

2. Place your mouse on the Member’s Deck on the top of the page in the gray area.

3. Scroll down to Auxiliary Manuals in the center of the page and click.

4. Scroll down to the V Dept. for manuals.

3.2 How Do I Take the Test to Become a Recreational Boat Safety Program Visitor

1. To take a test go to the National Website http://www.cgaux.org/

2. Put your mouse Member’s Deck on the top of the page in the gray area.

3. Scroll down to Auxiliary Testing Center and click.

4. If you are not registered with your member ID and Password you will have to create one to take the test so at this point you would have to click on “Get a Password” and fill in the information and submit.

5. Once you have obtained your password you can log in to the testing center. You may have already created a password if you have ordered uniforms on line at the Uniform Distribution Center. That same password should be used for all testing and any other areas where your password is called for. You only need create one password for access to all locations.

6. Scroll down the list of tests until you find the one for (MDV) Recreational Boating Safety Program Visitor exam.

7. Click on it and take the test. You will need a 90% to pass the test. Good Luck!

8. After you have passed your test you will need to be in contact with the FSO-PV (Flotilla Staff Office Program Visitors) to complete the rest of the requirements to become certified.

3.3 How to Become a Vessel Examiner

1. How to obtain the study materials: Log on to the USCG Auxiliary National Website http://www.cgaux.org/

2. Place your mouse on the Member’s Deck on the top of the page in the gray area.

3. Scroll down to Auxiliary Manuals in the center of the page and click.

4. Scroll down to the V Dept. for manuals.

5. Click on the manual you want and it will open the window (the Flotilla Staff Officer for Materials can also order manuals if you don’t have a way to print them).

6. You will need the Vessel Safety Check and Auxiliary Vessel Examiner Manual.

3.4 How Do I Take the Test to Become a Vessel Examiner

1. To take a test go to the National Website http://www.cgaux.org/

2. Put your mouse Member’s Deck on the top of the page in the gray

3. Scroll down to Auxiliary Testing Center and click

4. If you are not registered with your member ID and Password you will have to create one to take the test so at this point you would have to click on “Get a Password” and fill in the information and submit.
