Enrollment Update

(Hawpe) From both HSC and Norman, there are 8182 employees enrolled in the PPO plan, 2268 enrolled in the HMO plan and 304 enrolled in the HCA plan. There was about a 34% drop in the HMO plan and a 39% increase into the PPO.

Consulting Services

(Hawpe) The RFP for benefit consulting services has been put on hold and we are negotiating a renewal of the existing contract with Segal Consulting. This decision was influenced by a new consultant, Ted Makowiec, who has been assigned to the university. Ted is the former Director of Benefits for the University of Michigan.

Long Term Care

(Hawpe) As of February of 2016 CNA will no longer allow employees to enroll in the university’s Long-Term Care plan. The Benefits Office will initiate an RFP for a new Long Term Care provider.

Retirement Update

(Rollins) Retirement Services has been looking at ways to increase participation in OU’s voluntary retirement plans. There will be a Retirement Expo held on March 10th, 11th and 12th that will include information and vendors for all benefits that relate to OU retirement. There will also be a keynote speaking on the topic of retirement readiness.

Through analysis we have also determined that there is less than 20% usage of OU’s 403b and 457b plans. RPMC is considering options to move from a flat dollar contribution to a percentage contribution to ease the difficulty employees are having when setting up their contribution amounts.

Dependent Tuition Waiver

(Hoven) HR is currently working with the Bursar’s Office as well as Admin and Finance to develop guidelines for the Dependent Tuition Waiver Process. OU will be offering the waiver benefit beginning with the 2015 summer session. The Sooner Heritage Program will still be an option for any employees who cannot enroll their dependents into the health plan until Open Enrollment for 2016.

(Hawpe) Differences in tuition, degree programs, and other administrative procedures between the Norman and HSC campuses will be handled on a case by case basis.

Communication in regards to the Dependent Tuition Waiver should be referred to and handled by the Bursar’s Office.

Wellness Update

(Mitchell) Wellness is offering the Full Plate online course to faculty and staff. There are about 39 participants from HSC, 32 from Norman and 10 from Tulsa. The course will run through April 9th.

The Standing Desk models are currently being used and one model seems to be more efficient and easier to use than the other. We are looking at rolling out the program in March. Individuals will apply for the use of the desk and the Wellness Program will pay for the cost. The desk will continue to be maintained as OU property.
