PERMIT SPECIALIST
OPENING DATE: Friday, July 16, 2010 ENTRY WAGE: $12.66 - $16.46 per hour
CLOSING DATE: Friday, July 30, 2010 STATUS: Full-time, FLSA – Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides technical/administrative internal and external service and support for processing building plan reviews and permits; scheduling inspection requests; budget and fee administration; and other planning, zoning, building inspection and code enforcement support functions. Reviews simple building plans for code compliance. Conducts research for projects under review; helps set up and participate in meetings; assist customers, maintain records; and provides addressing for new development/projects.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Typical workweek requires working Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM. The Town of Florence promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or GED plus two (2) years of college coursework including classes in a related field; plus two (2) years experience working in a municipal building department or in a similar capacity; or equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the position.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Required:
q Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License.
q Valid ICC Permit Technician Certificate or successfully complete ICC Permit Technician Certification within one (1) year of accepting position responsibilities.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Applicants whose experience and training are most closely suited to the needs of the Town will be invited to participate in a typing skills and written aptitude testing.
