GO 4 IT - The Community Showcase Day

Saturday 13th July 10.00am to 4.00pm at Farnborough Rugby Club, Tile Barn Close, Farnborough GU14 8LS.

Picnic to Music in the Park

The Rotary Club of Farnborough are staging their 7th Picnic to Music in the Park event on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July, in aid of the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. The event takes place at King George V Playing Fields, Sycamore Road, Farnborough. On the Saturday there are the tribute acts Killer Queen and Counterfeit Quo and on Sunday a Motown night with a live band. Gates open at 5.00pm and the concerts start at 7.30pm. There is a grand firework finale each night.

Tickets prices for adults for each night are £20.00 in advance or £30.00 on the day. Children under 10 are free. Our libraries are regularly worth a visit for free internet access, WiFi, DVDs, PlayStationgames and books. Well equipped rooms are available to hire during and outside of opening hours at both Farnborough and Aldershot Library and Learning Centres. A new range of courses for the autumn term will be running in the Hart and Rushmoor area including employment preparation, computers, leisure, craft and exercise.

In addition, a range of course discounts is now available. All employment preparation courses are free regardless of circumstances. Those in receipt of a means tested benefit get a 50% reduction for most other courses. People who are over 60 get a 25% discount on course fees. Hampshire Parent/Carer Network Meeting

The next Hampshire Parent/Carer Network meeting is on Monday 15th July from 10.00am to 12.00 noon at Shawford Parish Hall, Winchester SO21 2AA when they will be providing an update on the participation work they are involved with across Hampshire. The guest speaker is Madeleine Coates from Hampshire County Council’s Adult Services department and her topic will be 'Transition from Childhood to Adulthood'.

Free Swimming for 16 Year Olds and Under

24th July to 1st September at Farnborough Leisure Centre and Aldershot Indoor Pools, but excluding the Aldershot Lido. You must register in advance by completing a form with parental permission. Registration costs £2.00. There is no limit to the number of times you can swim through the summer holidays. Swimming timetables will be given out when young people register and users will be able to swim during general swimming sessions at each pool. Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by a full paying adult when taking part in free swimming and they must be supervised in the water and changing room by a parent or adult aged over 18 years.

Runways End Outdoor Centre - Action Adventure Days

Runways End is Hampshire County Council's newest Outdoor Activity Centre and is located just off the A325 approximately 1.5 miles from the centres of Farnborough and Aldershot. This year they are running action adventure days every Tuesday and Thursday during the summer holidays. Children will experience activities such as abseiling, air rifle shooting, archery, high and low ropes, kayaking, canoeing and caving. These activities are designed to challenge children’s co-ordination and boost confidence, determination and self achievement. The timings for the days are 9.00am to 5.00pm but drop offs and pick ups can be arranged as early as 8.30am and as late as 5.30pm.
