Today’s 30º C;It’s 30 out and way too hot and I have nothing to do except reading a book in my room. Suddenly there came to my mother’s a shoutMy mother shouts, nearly making me jump out of my chair..

“Catherine! It’s your phone!” [a cell, no doubt]

Everyone in my family, include including my father, call my mom a tigress behind her back. [also, very good, and a metaphor comparing the mom to a “tigress.”

“It’s Larry, the short-nose boy.” [good name!] She gazed at me, frowned, and handed me the phone.

Clearly, she’s not wasn’t happy to see that a boy’s boy was calling.

“Hi, Larry!”

“Hi, Catherine! Do you want to go swimming this afternoon?”

“I don’t know.” I felt my Mom’s eyes like two cameras watching me. [simile]

“Come on! It will be fun! James, Harjit, and Brad will come with me, too!” [oh, too funny, these names!

“Oh, really? Wait a minute!”

My mom grabbed the phone.

“Stay home, it’s too hot outside.”

“I’m gonna go swimming! It’s cool!”

“You’d better NOT!” [love the previous 4 sentences; very real]

“Why? I’m already thirteen years old, why can’t I go swimming?”

“You’re too young to be wearing suits and swimming with boys!”

She shouted out just like a wild animalscreamed like a [name a specific animal] and hung up the phone.

“I hate you!” My tears dropped down. [Tears ran down my face]

I would never forgive her, I swore. [strong ending; also the hotheaded 13 year old!]
