To Print to the TLS2200 using the Brady USB to Serial Converter

1) Install the USB adapter: Attach the USB adapter and go through the Found New Hardware Wizard.

2) After the Adapter is installed, go to your computer’s System Properties - Device Manager - Ports to determine which COM port it was assigned (It will appear as the Prolific USB-to-Serial Com Port). Also determine the first available Com Port (see the notes in the box below, the first available port will be one that is NOT currently listed).

3) Select the Com Port Properties and verify the Port settings

(which should be 9600, 8, None, 1, XON/XOFF).

4) Go to the Port Settings tab and click on the Advanced button. Reassign the Com Port to the First Available Port, based on what was determined in the device manager.

5) Restart the Computer for the changes to take effect.

6) You are ready to print from LabelMark to the TLS2200. If you are using a different printer, install the appropriate Windows print driver (IDXpert, LabXpert, HandiMark, etc) and select the COM Port created in Step 4 above.

Troubleshooting:

· The error message:

Failed to open Serial Port for TLS2200.

Would indicate the correct Com Port is not selected.

a. Confirm the COM Port for the USB to Serial Adapter (as listed in Device Manager) is the same COM Port selected for the TLS2200 in LabelMark (Tools / User Defaults / TLS2200 Com Port).

b. Reassign the USB to Serial Adapter to a different COM Port and retest.

· The error message:

Unable to read from TLS2200. Ensure device in Peripheral Mode.

Would indicate you have selected the correct Com Port but need to:

a. Make sure the TLS is in Peripheral Mode: On the TLS2200, hold down Function and press Delete, the display should now say Peripheal Mode).

b. Confirm/Change the Com Port Settings (9600, 8, None, 1, Xon/Xoff)

c. In the Com Port Properties, Update the Com Port Driver

d. Restart the Computer
