Tipp City Enrichment Program (TCEP) Jr. Lego League Team Update

The three TCEP Jr. Lego League teams coached by Deb Fitzpatrick, Karen Purke and Martha Weaver have made great progress since their inception in September. All three teams have been meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00pm during the TCEP afterschool program on the second floor of the former Tipp City Central School in a room used by TCEP program that has been converted to our LEGO team headquarters.
All three of the teams have completed the following activities:
· Suggested team building exercises.
· Learned about and discussed everyday medical devises.
· Viewed numerous videos on robotic devises including arms and legs.
· Painted the base coats on wooden robot cut-outs.
· Worked on individual designs for the wooden robot cut -outs.
· Created a collaborative design for the wood cut-out.
· Worked as a team to create a team robot.
· Learned the basics of LEGO interlocking building techniques.
· Teams observed three different simple LEGO machines based on reference books and instructions manual found at the library and online.
· Created there own a simple machines using some of the ideas observed from the simple machines they observed.
· Redesigned their team robots incorporating a simple machine and the basic interlocking building technique.
· Created drawings of their robots.
