Bio - Ian McCormack
From a young age, Ian McCormack, a New Zealand native, developed a passion for the outdoors, specifically the ocean. He enjoyed playing rugby, diving, sailing, fishing and surfing. He is also a fully trained lifeguard.
Receiving a degree in Agriculture and Dairy Science, Ian then worked with the NZ Dairy Board. When he turned 24, Ian embarked on a trip to surf to locations all around the world including Australia, Bali, Java, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Reunion Island, Mauritius and South Africa. In 1982, during a night dive in Mauritius, Ian was stung five times by the deadly box jellyfish. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. However, in the hospital morgue, he came back to life, having had a life-changing encounter with Christ.
Since 1983, Ian has traveled to over 55 nations to share his testimony and minister. He is an ordained pastor with the New Zealand Assemblies of God Church.
Ian and his wife Jane have three children: Lisa, Michael and Sarah. In 2007, the McCormack’s moved to London and in 2009, started Kingsgate Church.
