Use the textbook and your notes, to complete the map. Don’t tell me you couldn’t find it.
1. Label neatly with a black pen:
Each individual colony (there are 13) spell out the names completely
2. Label these key cities neatly with a black pen:
Boston, MA Providence, RI New York, NY
Philadelphia, PA Baltimore, MD Jamestown, VA
New Bern, NC Wilmington, NC
Charles Town, SC Savannah, GA
3. Color in and label:
the Appalachian Mountains area (Brown or tan)
the Atlantic Ocean
each of the Great Lakes (5)
Ohio River
Mississippi River
Missouri River
4. Color the 3 regions.
New England (red),
Middle (green)
Southern Colonies (Yellow)
Create a key that distinguishes the three regions. Do not color each individual state a different color.
5. Put a compass on your map with cardinal and intermediate directions.
6. Create a symbol to represent the main economies for each colony.
Animal Hides- New Hampshire, Massachusetts
Ships and Timber- Mass., Rhode Island, Deleware
Cattle and Sheep- Conneticutt, New Jersey
Wheat- Pennsylvania
Tobacco- Maryland, Virginia
Pigs- Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina
Naval Stores (tar for ships)- North Carolina
Rice- South Carolina, Georgia
7. Draw asymbol that represents the dominant religion in each colony. (ex. Massachusetts was Puritan). Include the: Puritans, Quakers, Anglicans, Catholics, Jews, Lutherans, Presbyterians (Use your notes and the book for this one).
8. Title your map and add a key that indicates the 3 regions.
