CREATIVE THINKING
I think I can…….
Old Ideas – New designs
· Look at old ideas in new ways – Sometimes just a simple change will make the difference
· But we’ve already tried that - It won’t work.…or will it? Don’t get caught up in the past. An idea that didn’t work 10 or 5 or 1 year ago might be perfect now. circumstances change, people change, and resources change.
.
No one told me…….it wasn’t supposed to work!
· Creative thinkers jump in with both feet. They explore all kinds of crazy ideas which often evolve into great ideas.
· Think like the “big” guys – Small schools may have some limitations but many
of the same principals that large schools use will work on a small scale too. Even
without a private secretary!
Climb out of the box
· Dare to look beyond the box – Don’t allow negative thinking to block positive outcomes. Statements such as: I’m just a cook; My school is too small; We don’t have the….(time, space, equipment) and We’ve always done it like this; are common excuses
for not practicing creative thinking.
· Take a risk. – Creative thinkers are willing to take a risk. They imagine things outside of their comfort level and act.
· Be willing to fail…. Creative thinkers are willing to fail. They usually get up,
dust themselves off and then try it again!
