Communication & Marketing Internship Job Description

Position: Communication& Marketing Intern

Reports to: Director of Residence Life

Appointment: Semester basis

Compensation: Paid Internship through federal work aid

Lincoln University’s Residence Life programs and services create a positive environment that actively engages students in the collegiate experience and help to build school spirit, character, and morale throughout out the year while residing in the residence halls.

Position Summary

The communication & marketing intern will be responsible for the Residence Life image and marketing efforts, as well as developing a plan for and implementing the management of various marketing media. Additionally, the communication & marketing intern will help with special projects in the main office. This position may require some evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

· Update and maintain the Office of Residence Life newsletter and social media

· Research other university Residence Life programs and make suggestions for best practices

· Discover creative ways to increase awareness of Residence Life

· Create and distribute various print marketing materials

· Meet with student groups as needed to present marketing information and promote events

· Create materials that encourage student involvement

· Take pictures/videos at RA trainings, In-Services, and other departmental programs

· Participate in coverage of the Residence Life office

· Answer telephone calls, emails, and all inquiries from student, staff, faculty, and parents

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Conditions of Employment

· Must be enrolled as a full-time student during the period of employment

· Must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 before and during employment

· No active judicial infractions

· Sophomore or above status

Expectations

· Prior experience or interest in campus involvement, organization management and leadership

· Computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, OrgSync) considered a strong asset

· Strong organizational skills, interpersonal abilities, and oral and written communication

· Someone who has a positive outlook and attitude about Lincoln University /Residence Life is a MUST.

· Be open to feedback, both formally and informally

· Demonstrate positive personal, academic, and job-related behaviors at all times.

· Have strong interpersonal and peer leadership skills;

· Have the ability to work independently and within a group setting

Evaluation

The communication & marketing Intern will receive an evaluation at the end of their internship by the Director of Residence Life. Communication & Marketing interns will also be expected to write a self reflection about their experience.
