The Lamb Skit
(also known as The Prodigal Ewe)
Mary had some little lambs with fleece as white as snow,
And everywhere that Mary went most little lambs would go.
To the store would Mary head, her group not far behind.
She often struggled with a few; she worked to make them mind.
Most of the lambs were faithful pets, their love for Mary apparent.
In obedient joy they followed her, but for a few who were errant.
One day she strolled off into town, her little flock in tow.
But then there were some of those lambs that told their mistress “no”.
Two of the lambs chose a path that seemed a lot more fun.
They wriggled into bathing suits, sipped Sangrias in the sun.
A couple went another way, hanging out with the guys.
They twirled their beads, puckered their lips and at the men made eyes.
From time to time they’d rejoin their group, and hope to Mary they’d give,
But then another day would dawn, and they’d live as they had lived.
The rest of the rebels did other things that made our Mary cry.
Each found a different way to go, they left with no good-bye.
This little group of lukewarm souls thought they weren’t so bad.
Occasionally they’d re-appear to keep old Mary glad.
There was however this one lamb who traveled her road alone.
She seemed to slide the furthest away and was soon far from home.
All the ewes thought her the worst, her actions they would judge.
They called her names, cajoled her back, but her spirit they couldn’t budge.
All the while Mary prayed “please bring my whole flock near”.
She knew down deep inside her heart Almighty God would hear.
There was a hurt on Mary’s heart, her work had just begun.
She knew the flock would be just fine, but for this little one.
This lonesome lamb seemed so content to live her life so wrong.
She found a world far from the flock and struggled to belong.
A miracle happened in the field, stood there Mary and the few.
But most importantly there stood the prodigal little ewe (ahhhh).
They all rejoiced, for they had learned to die to their old ways.
They knew now with their entire hearts God would with them always stay.
Now Jesus has a little lamb, that little lamb is you.
And he is pleased when all His lambs keep following him too!
