TODD AKIN FACES NO DIFFICULTY IN REPUBLICAN PRIMARY CONTEST

HEADED TOWARD ANOTHER PRIMARY VICTORY

1. Congressman Akin faces no difficult in this primary contest and will be re-nominated with ease.

Ø Akin holds a commanding lead on the congressional primary ballot, defeating State Representative Sherman Parker 77% to 3%, including 48% who will definitely vote for Akin.

Ø 41% of these voters indicate they have no hesitation in voting to reelect Akin when asked to name their biggest hesitation in voting to re-nominate Todd Akin.

Ø 73% believe he deserves another term, including 46% who believe he definitely deserves another term (9% believe it is time for someone new).

2. In this district, Congressman Akin is well known and well liked.

Ø 96% of these voters are aware of Todd Akin, with 75% holding a favorable opinion of him, including 42% who hold a very favorable opinion. Just 5% hold an unfavorable opinion.

3. Voters approve of the issues that Congressman Akin has involved himself in, and the votes he has cast.

Ø 85% are more likely to vote for Congressman Akin for his sponsorship of legislation to keep “Under God” in the pledge of allegiance, including 70% who are much more likely.

Ø 82% are more likely to vote for Congressman Akin when told he introduced legislation to protect property owners from the misuse of eminent domain, including 62% who are much more likely.

Ø 69% are more likely to vote for Congressman Akin for his vote to build a fence across our border with Mexico, to send illegal aliens back to their country or origin and his vote against amnesty for illegal aliens, including 49% who are much more likely.

American Viewpoint conducted a survey of likely Republican Primary voters in the Second Congressional District in Missouri for the Honorable Todd Akin. All interviews were conducted by telephone the nights of Monday, June 26 and Tuesday, June 27, 2006. The margin of error for this survey is plus or minus 5.8%.
