The Fall of Man (Genesis 2)

Main Point: Everyone has sinned and is separated from God.

Key Verse: Everyone has sinned. No one measures up to God's glory. Romans 3:23

Materials- any disguise (such as funny glasses, a hat, wig, etc.) - Sticky Situation Cards

Personal Connection

Dress up in the disguise. Introduce yourself as the group’s new teacher, complete with a new name, an accent, etc. (If you do not wish to disguise yourself, you may ask a child to wear the disguise and try to introduce them as a new student.) The group will not believe that you are a new teacher. Say: You caught me in a disguise. That’s what Satan did in today’s lesson - he disguised himself; he lied, and Adam and Eve fell for it. Leader, feel free to tell about a time that you “fell” for one of Satan’s schemes.

Hands on Application

· Have the group open their Bibles to Romans 3:23, and read the verse together aloud.

· Say: Everyone has fallen for Satan’s disguises and lies, just like Adam and Eve did. Everyone has made the choice to sin. However, there are occasions when we don’t fall for Satan’s tricks; just like when you didn’t believe I was a new teacher.

· Today we are going to look at some “sticky situations”. Each card gives an example of an everyday circumstance. I’m going to pass them out to each of you, and I want you to spend a few minutes reading over them and thinking of a solution that would please God. Since the Bible shows us how we are to live, try adding a verse to your response .

· Pass out the Sticky Situation Cards. While the children are reading them walk around and talk to them. Help them decide on their solution and Bible verse.

Group Discussion

· Have a few of the children read their cards aloud. If you have access to a white board, write a short synopsis of the sticky situation on the board and list the group’s helpful solutions.

· Say: We can be in some sticky situations sometimes, but God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us. One of the Holy Spirit’s jobs is to convict us of our sin and lead us to God’s truth. The Bible has all the answers we need to live a life that is honoring and glorifying to God. Reading your Bible and memorizing scripture will help you make the right choice in any sticky situation.

Conversation with God (Prayer)

In today’s prayer time, ask God to help the class when they are in difficult situations. Remind them that God will guide them and help them when they ask. Also, thank Him for His forgiveness when they do make wrong choices. Remember, when Jesus died on the cross, He took away all of our sin. God not only forgives our sin, He also forgets our sin. Close in prayer, and fill in your prayer journal.
